Natural Lighting: How Beneficial Is It?

Consider how often we rely on artificial light for everything. Nowadays we hardly even use natural lighting anymore. So why is that people are wanting to open their homes to more natural lighting now. The answer is simple, a healthier way of living.

Think of all the benefits you get from natural lighting. You’re saving energy from not constantly turning on and off a switch – you’re also saving yourself money! Everyone loves to save money and by avoiding having to use artificial lighting all the time can save you a few extra bucks. How cool is that?

Believe it or not, natural lighting can also bring out the beauty within people and objects. Ever notice how vibrant someone looks in the sunlight or how the light seeping in through the blinds shows a bright tone to your furniture, that’s all because of natural lighting.

Scientists have done research to also show how daylight affects our health and how by just adding a little more natural light into our lives is important. Obviously we can’t control the sun, that’s the downer about this. However, we do get to decide on how light affects our lives and some people are starting to use windows as a way of opening up that gate of natural light.

Now, if you’re already living in a home or you’re renting and you can’t really add anymore windows because it might disrupt the architecture of the home or you’re just simply not allowed then here are some other options you can use to your advantage. Adding skylights can be costly, but they’ll reduce your electricity costs in the future. There’s one thing, you can’t just install them anywhere though. They need to be installed in rooms that are used the most often like a study or the living room.

Here’s an easy task, remove any objects that are blocking the path of sunlight. If you have windows that are being blocked by overgrown bushes and shrubs, go out there and do a little gardening to open up some light into your home. Mirrors are also a great source since they reflect light throughout a room. If you don’t want to go buying a ton of mirrors then consider buying furniture with glass or mirrored accents. There are plenty ways to let more light into your life and start living healthier. Get creative and don’t forget to have fun with your ‘light’ project – http://cleanwindowsokc.com/
